Nathan Pachal was mayor of the City of Langley from 2022 to 2026, after serving on council from 2016. In the October 17, 2026 election he received 2,411 votes, and Delaney Mack was elected. This page collects what the City and Pachal himself have published, plus local news. It is a neutral summary, not an endorsement or a review.

Background

The City’s mayor page says he advocates for affordable housing, transportation and green space in the region. It lists a report he wrote on the Agricultural Land Reserve in the south of the Fraser, “Decade of Exclusions?”, and says he co-authored “Leap Ahead: A transit plan for Metro Vancouver.” It also says he completed the SFU and City of Surrey Transportation Lecture Program in 2010.

On his long-running South Fraser Blog, he describes the site as sharing his advocacy and thoughts on Langley and Metro Vancouver over about two decades. The blog is now archived.

Previous service

The City’s page says he was first elected to council in a 2016 by-election and elected mayor in 2022. His blog states that he served as a councillor from 2016 to 2022 and as mayor from 2022 to 2026.

Roles and affiliations

Global News reported in March 2024 that he was a member of TransLink’s Mayors’ Council. The City’s mayor page, as we saw it, did not list board appointments, so we have not listed others.

Term highlights

These items come from published sources and are not a full record of council business.

  • March 2024, TransLink: Pachal said publicly that TransLink should have a single, elected governing body, per Global News.
  • February 2025, SkyTrain: At the February 10, 2025 council meeting, staff from the provincial Transportation Investment Corporation updated council on SkyTrain construction, including the future Langley City Centre Station. Pachal’s blog notes record the station design details.
  • March 2025, budget: The City’s release on its 2025 budget described a proposed 6.7% property tax increase, with funding for two firefighters, road and pathway work, and water and sewer pipe replacement.
  • May 2025, policing: The City responded to the Township’s move to end the shared RCMP arrangement, saying de-integration needs provincial approval. See our RCMP detachment explainer.

The 2026 election

The City’s results page lists 2,411 votes for Pachal. See 2026 City of Langley election results and the City council page.
