Willoughby is one of the Township’s fastest-growing neighbourhoods, and it has been waiting for a recreation centre of its own. Here is where things stand: the Willoughby Community Centre is a planned building, not an open one, and the parks around it already have plenty to play on. So this page covers both, and we are careful to say which is which.

The planned community centre

The Township’s project page says the centre is in planning. It lists what the centre is “presently planned to include”:

  • a community aquatic centre with a 37.5 metre lap pool, plus a leisure pool and a hot pool
  • a fitness facility
  • a gymnasium
  • a library
  • multipurpose rooms and other supporting community spaces

The Township describes it as part of wider upgrades to Yorkson Community Parks North and South. The page lists two public open houses: a drop-in on May 23, 2024, and another on September 25, 2025 that covered the centre and Yorkson Community Park South. It says more information will be added as the project moves ahead. It does not give an opening date, hours, fees or programs, so we have not either. For anything that is open today, see Walnut Grove Community Centre, W.C. Blair Recreation Centre and Al Anderson Memorial Pool.

Willoughby Community Park

The Township’s facilities listing shows the park at the 7700 block of 202A Street, open from dawn to dusk unless it is booked or hosting a special event. The amenities it lists include:

  • lit soccer fields, a stadium, and synthetic fields
  • lacrosse, rugby, tennis, basketball, pickleball, bocce and sand volleyball
  • a spray park and a play area
  • an amphitheatre, picnic shelters, change rooms, meeting rooms, washrooms and drinking water
  • parking

Our Langley United Soccer page covers the soccer side. The Township’s news page says Council approved $950,000 for improvements at the park, with the largest group of users being Langley United Soccer Association. The work it lists includes a synthetic turf warm-up area with fencing, seating and sidewalks, upgrades to the concession and buildings, and a crosswalk between the upper fieldhouse entrance and the Southeast playing field. Check the Township’s page for what has been finished.

Yorkson Community Park

Close by, Yorkson Community Park North has been upgraded. The Township’s page says Council approved $20.5 million for it, and, as of May 2026, describes its playground as the largest accessible playground in the Township. The spray park, synthetic field and gathering spaces are also listed as complete, along with a 75-stall parking lot off 84 Avenue. The South park has proposed changes, including new parking, washrooms, a nature play area and oval fields with a walking and running path.

Getting there and contact

The park is in the Willoughby community. Our Willoughby guide has more about the neighbourhood, and City vs. Township explains who looks after what. Questions can go to the Township at 604-534-3211. For what’s on at local parks, see our events page.
