Emilia & Rose is named after two women: owner Silvia Dixson’s mother and her aunt. Their Italian family was the kind that gathered around a big table, and the shop is built around that: things for setting a table, feeding people and making a house feel lived in.

It didn’t start as a home store. Silvia ran Party On Store from 2009, sold protective gear through the pandemic, then added home decor in December 2020 with her family’s help. That side took over, and now it’s a homewares and gift boutique on Glover Road.

On the shelves you’ll find ribbed-glass butter dishes, Friso mugs (about $24), green Fontana serving platters (about $80), quilted throws, cushions, table linens and candles. There are also Swedish dishcloths at $5.99 in Canadian, floral and bird prints, and glass-bead bracelets from Thé Vert. From fall on, a good chunk of the shop turns into Christmas: bottlebrush trees, nutcrackers, ornaments and festive dinnerware. Reviewers mostly talk about the displays and how easy it is to find a gift.

It’s open every day: Monday 11 to 4, Tuesday to Saturday 10 to 5, and Sunday noon to 5. Find it at 150–9220 Glover Road, in the same building as Into Chocolate. You can browse the online catalogue before you go, call 604-881-0012, or email [email protected].
