If you’ve ever slowed down on Glover Road because there was an old gas pump in a shop window, it was probably this one.

Rempel Mercantile is Fort Langley’s shop for motoring and advertising nostalgia. Think filling-station pumps, enamel and tin signs from Canadian brands, oil cans, crates, a jukebox, and furniture that’s been restored rather than just dusted off. Jon and Katie Rempel run it, and the stock turns over fast. Their Instagram regularly posts something that’s already sold by the time anyone asks.

What you’ll find

  • Petroliana: gas pumps, oil tins and other filling-station gear. It’s the shop’s signature.
  • Old advertising: signs, crates and tins, many of them Canadian, like an old Canada Dry crate or a Greyhound Package Express sign.
  • Small collectibles: records, advertising watch fobs (a brass Sawyer & Massey one went up for $195 in October), toys and curios.
  • Restored furniture and industrial display pieces, the sort that end up anchoring a whole room.
  • New hand-painted signs by local maker Kreepy Acres, sold alongside the antiques.

A bit of village history, too

The Rempels have given back to the village they trade in. In 2019 they donated a railway message rod to the Fort Langley CNR Station, and heritage volunteers now use it to show how station agents handed messages up to passing trains. Katie also turns up in our story about Sonic the Hedgehog 2 filming in Fort Langley: the shop sat right across from the set.

Before you go

Their website was down when we checked, so Instagram is the place for hours and new arrivals. Weekdays are 10 to 5. On weekends, Instagram says 10 to 4 while Google shows longer hours, so go by Instagram. If a piece you saw online is the reason for the trip, message them first, because good things go quickly.

It’s a short walk from the rest of the village. Our Fort Langley village guide has parking and the other stops, and there are more independents on Shop Local.
