George Preston is the Township’s ice-and-curling building on 42 Avenue, in the Brookswood area. There is no pool here. What you get instead is an arena, curling ice, a pub and a steakhouse, and a lot of hockey bags.

What’s here

According to the Township’s page:

  • An ice arena. The page does not say how many pads there are, so we will not guess. Arena and drop-in times are posted on the Township’s skating pages.
  • Curling ice, home of the Langley Curling Centre, with a pro shop. The club has its own website, linked above.
  • An outdoor sports box.
  • A restaurant and a pub, The Lodge Steakhouse and The Horse & Ryder Pub, which the page says run on bookings.
  • Rooms to rent. Two rooms (B and C) hold 10 to 133 people and can be joined, and a seasonal curling lounge holds 50 to 75. There is also an outdoor patio, a seasonal dry floor and a parking lot available to rent.

Watching hockey

The Langley Rivermen of the BCHL list this centre as their address on the team’s site. Our Rivermen page has the history and how to follow the team, and the team’s own schedule shows each game’s rink. Bigger events happen at the Langley Events Centre.

Drop-in skating and fees

Drop-in skating, stick and puck, and other activities are listed on the Township’s schedules, and admission is set on the admission fees page. We do not repeat prices here, because they are updated by the Township and the arena schedule changes through the season.

Registered programs and rentals

The Township’s page links its recreation registration and its facility rentals page, which is where you would go to sign up for programs or book ice, rooms or the lot. For anything else, call the centre.

Nearby

For a pool, try W.C. Blair in Murrayville or Walnut Grove. The Brookswood library branch is also close; our libraries page has it. For what is on, see events.
