Four elementary schools (Alice Brown, Belmont, Noel Booth and Glenwood, all Kindergarten to Grade 7) feed Brookswood Secondary, which runs Grades 8 to 12. Which one a child attends depends on the exact address, and the neighbourhood-plan names you’ll see (Booth, Glenwood and so on) are not school catchments. The Langley School District (SD35) is in charge of all of it; our district page and the Langley-wide schools guide cover registration steps that are the same everywhere.
Which public schools serve Brookswood and Fernridge?
Enrolment below is the province’s 30 September 2025 count. Capacity and portable figures come from the district’s June 2024 facilities plan, so they are older and aren’t a measure of how full a school is today. Ask the school about space in a particular grade.
| School | Grades and programmes | Who it generally serves | Students, Sept 2025 | Capacity and portables (June 2024 plan) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alice Brown Elementary, 20011 44 Avenue (in Langley City) | K-7, English | Northern edge of Brookswood and adjoining City blocks | 302 | 303; no instructional portables |
| Belmont Elementary, 20390 40 Avenue | K-7, English and early French immersion | Central and eastern established Brookswood, around 40 Avenue | 549 (306 in French immersion) | 527; no general-instruction portables; childcare uses a room and a portable |
| Noel Booth Elementary, 20202 35 Avenue | K-7, English and late French immersion (Grades 6-7) | Western and southern established Brookswood, east toward Anderson Creek | 338 (25 in French immersion) | 368; one instructional portable and two childcare portables |
| Glenwood Elementary, 20785 24 Avenue | K-7, English | Fernridge and a large southern and rural area reaching toward 0 Avenue | 212 | 210; two instructional portables |
| Brookswood Secondary, 20902 37A Avenue | 8-12; French immersion, selected AP courses, film and television, band and drama, CatPack (Grades 8-9), equestrian programme | The four elementary schools; some programme students come from elsewhere | 1,063 (179 in French immersion) | 1,175; no portables |
Two notes on that table. The catchment descriptions are our plain-English summary of SD35’s maps, not a legal boundary. And Belmont’s and Glenwood’s September 2025 numbers sit just above the capacity numbers in the 2024 plan (549 against 527, and 212 against 210). The dates differ, so treat that as a reason to ask the school about space, not a conclusion.
How do I find out which school my address is in?
Type the address into SD35’s school locator. The district’s catchment-map page still links individual maps dated 13 May 2014, which are official but old, so the locator is the better check. If the result is unclear, call SD35 at 604-534-7891. This matters twice over if you’re buying: Alice Brown sits in the City but serves some Township homes, and the Glenwood and Brookswood Secondary catchments reach well past the blocks around the schools.
Before you buy: check the locator for the exact address, and again if you're comparing two streets that are only a few blocks apart. Catchments can change, so a school listing from a past owner isn't a guarantee.
Can my child do French immersion?
Early French immersion begins at Belmont. Noel Booth offers late French immersion in Grades 6 and 7, and Brookswood Secondary has a French immersion programme. These are choice programmes, so admission doesn’t follow the English catchment. Ask SD35 about the current pathway and how placement works before relying on it.
What about Langley Fundamental?
Langley Fundamental Middle & Secondary (21250 42 Avenue, just east of Brookswood) teaches Grades 6 to 12 and had 822 students in 2025/26. It’s a district choice programme with a waiting-list application, not an entitlement for nearby homes. Its registration page explains the move in from Langley Fundamental Elementary (21789 50 Avenue, K-5, outside this area) in Grade 6 and from Coghlan Fundamental in Grade 8.
Is the Brookswood middle school happening?
Not yet. The district’s 2024 facilities plan expected enrolment pressure to move south as development proceeds, especially around Noel Booth, and favoured a 900-place middle school for Grades 6 to 8. That would let elementary schools shrink to K-5 and move Grade 8 out of Brookswood Secondary. Those are planning assumptions: the grades above are what schools teach today.
SD35’s 2027/28 Five-Year Capital Plan (16 June 2026) turns that into requests. The board approved the submission in June 2026; the province decides what gets funded.
| Request | Detail in the plan | Status at 30 October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Middle-school site, Brookswood-Fernridge | About 6.1 hectares (15 acres) for a 900-place school; estimated $90 million, 2030/31 column | Requested; land and exact parcel not confirmed |
| Brookswood Middle School | 900 places; estimated $160 million, 2031/32 column | Requested; the year is a request column, not an opening date |
| Brookswood Secondary seismic work | Estimated $46 million, 2030/31 | Requested |
| Belmont and Noel Booth interior refresh | Part of a $165,000 group request for five schools’ millwork, flooring and paint, 2027/28 | Proposal |
| Alice Brown accessible playground | Listed in the 2027/28 minor capital proposal (September 2026) | Requested |
School and park sites drawn on the Township’s neighbourhood plans are land-use planning, not opening commitments. To follow the process or raise capacity concerns, use SD35 (604-534-7891) or its public board-meeting records.
Can children walk to school here?
Belmont is on 40 Avenue, Noel Booth on 35 Avenue, Glenwood at 24 Avenue and 208 Street, and Brookswood Secondary just off 208 Street at 37A Avenue. Children on neighbouring streets may have a short walk, but the catchment maps don’t certify sidewalks or crossings, and 73% of roads in the area have no sidewalk or path (Township count, November 2024). Walk the route to the gate before choosing a house on the assumption that your child can walk it.
The Township lists 44 Avenue in front of Alice Brown Elementary as a traffic-calming project in process (page checked 30 October 2026). Calming requests go to [email protected] or 604-533-6006. See getting around for the sidewalk and bus picture.

Preschool, childcare and StrongStart
These centres are on Fraser Health’s licensed-facility list printed 3 July 2026. We can confirm what each is licensed for, not whether it has openings.

Sonshine Street is on the province’s $10-a-day list; families apply directly to the centre (604-530-1812). Fees, vacancies and wait times aren’t published, so ask. For others, use Fraser Health’s licensed-facility search and its inspection records, and see our preschools and child care guide.
StrongStart, the free drop-in for children from birth to five with a parent, isn’t offered at a Brookswood-Fernridge school this year. Simonds Elementary (20190 48 Avenue) and Douglas Park Community School (5409 206 Street), both in Langley City, run Monday to Friday 8:30 to 11:30 am with school-day closures. No registration; bring a birth certificate on the first visit. Check the schedule before you go.
Where to look up how a school is doing
The province’s school reports (this one is Brookswood Secondary, with links to each school) are the primary data. The Fraser Institute publishes its own comparison at compareschoolrankings.org; that’s a think tank’s rating with its own method, and we don’t rank schools ourselves. For electives and AP offerings, ask Brookswood Secondary directly: its course-planning page mixes 2025/26 and 2026/27 wording.
