Milner is a place you notice by its buildings. A white wooden chapel from 1886 stands at 6716 216 Street, the community hall is a little farther along at 6830, and Milner Park sits at the corner of Glover Road and 216 Street. Fields fill in the rest. Records differ slightly on the hall’s opening year (1911 or 1912, depending on the source), but this has been a farming crossroads for well over a century. The Langley Heritage Society’s timeline says the Langley Fall Fair was held in Milner Park from 1920 to 1938, and the Johnston Memorial Maple, planted in 1923, still stands at 216 Street and Glover Road.

Where exactly is Milner?

There is no official boundary for a Milner neighbourhood. Think of it as the farmland around Glover Road, 216 Street and Crush Crescent, east of Willoughby’s newer streets and north of Murrayville. The rural plan recognises a small Milner commercial node, which is narrower than every property marketed as Milner. If a listing says Milner, locate the real parcel on the Township map.

What’s the housing like?

Older community buildings sit in a rural and agricultural setting, and we haven’t found a build-year breakdown of Milner’s houses, so we won’t guess whether farmhouses, replacement houses or smaller lots dominate. The useful check is the one on every rural buy: before you treat a nearby field as future housing, look up its ALR status and plan designation. Our housing page covers wells, septic and what you can build.

What’s close by?

  • Park: Milner Park has a playground, playing fields, basketball and tennis or pickleball courts, washrooms and parking.
  • Hall: the Milner Community Association looks after the hall and chapel and describes an annual picnic and a fall potluck. We don’t have 2027 dates.
  • Shops: Milner Feed and Pet Supply (feed, hay, pet supplies) and Milner Valley Cheese (farm cheese with a seasonal shop calendar). These are useful local businesses, but you’ll still drive for a full grocery run and pharmacy. See shops and services.
  • Bus: route 562, the locality’s main scheduled link, runs along Glover Road to Fort Langley, Trinity Western and Walnut Grove.
  • Independent school: COMPASS Christian Langley is at 6866 Glover Road (K-8).

Which schools serve Milner?

Milner is near catchment edges, so check the exact address in the SD35 locator rather than assuming every Milner home attends the same elementary or secondary school. Willoughby Elementary (20766 80 Avenue) and Douglas Park Community (5409 206 Street, City of Langley) are among the schools to check, and ask the district about upcoming boundary changes on the Willoughby side. The schools page lists every school and the bus rules.

Things to know

  • Milner shares an edge with fast-growing Willoughby. See Willoughby if you want to compare a town setting.
  • Check the bus stop connection on foot. A property near Glover Road may have a short walk, while one on a back road might not.
  • Fort Langley’s village is a short drive north, and its library and shops are covered in the Fort Langley village guide.

Questions people ask about Milner

Where is Milner, Langley?
Milner is a historic locality in the Township of Langley centred on Glover Road, 216 Street and Crush Crescent, with Milner Hall at 6830 216 Street. The Township has no single official residential boundary for it, and the rural plan’s Milner commercial node is narrower than everything advertised as Milner.
Which bus serves Milner?
Route 562. It runs about every 20 minutes at weekday peaks and by day, then about hourly later in the evening, and hourly on Sundays, according to the September 2026 timetable. Check the live stop lookup, because a Milner address doesn’t guarantee a short walk to a stop.
Which schools serve Milner?
It depends on the exact address. Milner sits near several catchment edges, and the district map shows different school systems around the Glover and 216 Street corridor, so use the SD35 locator. Douglas Park Community (City of Langley) and Willoughby Elementary are among the schools to check.
Is there anything to do in Milner?
Milner Park has a playground, playing fields, basketball and tennis or pickleball courts. The Milner Community Association runs the hall and chapel and describes an annual picnic and a fall potluck. Milner Valley Cheese keeps a seasonal shop calendar.
Can I buy a house in Milner and subdivide the land?
Don’t assume so. Much of the surrounding land is agricultural, and the ALR and the Township’s plan designation decide what is possible. Ask the Township for the parcel’s zoning and designation first.

Last checked October 29, 2026. Things change fast in a growing area: confirm anything important (catchments, rents, bus times) with the official source linked. Spotted something out of date? Tell us.
