School boundaries in Langley follow the street address, and in Yorkson they are about to move. Four public elementary schools sit inside the neighbourhood, and Yorkson Creek Middle is on 84 Avenue. Starting in September 2027 two brand-new schools open on the 212 Connector, and the route from elementary to middle to secondary changes for most Yorkson streets.
Check twice. The district's everyday school locator does not yet show the 2027 boundaries. Look your address up in the regular catchment maps and then on the district's Emery Dosdall and stɑtl̓əw̓ Middle pages. Ask for the answer in writing.
Which school will my child attend?
Walk the steps in this order:
- Get the full civic address of the home you are renting or buying. A development name such as “Yorkson Creek” or “Union Park” tells you nothing about a catchment.
- Put it into the SD35 catchment maps for the current school year.
- If your child will be in Grade 6 or Grade 9 in 2027 or later, or starts kindergarten in 2027 or later, open the September 2027 catchment graphics as well.
- Phone or email the school or the district office (604-534-7891) and ask whether your grade has space. When a grade is full, the district can redirect children to another school.
Living across the street from a school does not guarantee a place in it.
The public schools serving Yorkson
Grades and addresses come from the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care directory. Headcounts are the Ministry’s 2025/26 totals, not this year’s enrolment. Capacity figures are from the district’s 2026 boundary-planning material and are not measured on the same day as the headcounts.
| School | Grades and address | Notes | 2025/26 headcount and capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Willoughby Elementary | K-5, 20766 80 Ave | By the Town Centre. Replacement under study (see below) | 507 students |
| Lynn Fripps Elementary | K-5, 21020 83 Ave | North-east Yorkson. A 150-seat addition opened September 2025 | 577 students |
| Richard Bulpitt Elementary | K-5, 20965 77A Ave | South-east Yorkson. A 150-seat addition opened September 2024 | 623 students |
| Donna Gabriel Robins Elementary | K-5, 7844 204B St | South-west Yorkson. StrongStart and child care on site. Splits two ways in 2027 | 637 students |
| Josette Dandurand Elementary | K-5, 20143 82 Ave | West of the Yorkson boundary, but part of the same feeder maps. Opened September 2025 with 555 places | 446 students |
| Yorkson Creek Middle | 6-8, 20686 84 Ave | Current middle school for much of Yorkson | 1,053 students; planning capacity 790 |
| Peter Ewart Middle | 6-8, 7755 202A St | West of Yorkson. A 275-seat addition opened September 2025 | 983 students; planning capacity 900 |
| R.E. Mountain Secondary | 9-12, 7633 202A St | Current secondary. The IB programme is here | 2,573 students; planning capacity 2,075 |

All of these are neighbourhood English-program schools. French immersion and other choice programs work differently; see below.
What changes in September 2027?
Two new schools open next to Smith Athletic Park, just south of Yorkson: stɑtl̓əw̓ Middle at 7467 212 Connector (planned for 900 students) and Emery Dosdall Secondary at 7587 212 Connector (planned for 1,900). The district’s pages dated October 20 and 21, 2026 give September 2027 as the target. Until the doors open, that is a target and not a promise.
| Elementary catchment | Middle school from Sept 2027 | Secondary from Sept 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Willoughby | Yorkson Creek | Emery Dosdall |
| Lynn Fripps | stɑtl̓əw̓ | Emery Dosdall |
| Richard Bulpitt | stɑtl̓əw̓ | Emery Dosdall |
| Donna Gabriel Robins, east area | stɑtl̓əw̓ | Emery Dosdall |
| Donna Gabriel Robins, west area | Peter Ewart | R.E. Mountain |
| Josette Dandurand | Yorkson Creek | R.E. Mountain |
Three things catch families out. First, Donna Gabriel Robins is divided, so two neighbours at the same elementary can end up at different secondary schools. Second, students entering Grade 12 at R.E. Mountain in September 2027 can stay there, but younger brothers and sisters do not automatically get the same exception. Third, cross-boundary requests are still handled under district rules and depend on space.
Walking to your elementary school today does not mean the new campus will be a short walk. It sits south of Yorkson beside Smith Athletic Park, so measure the route from your own door.
Emery Dosdall’s page describes planned pre-IB honours and AP courses in Grades 9 and 10. IB stays at R.E. Mountain.
Crowding, portables and what is funded
The middle and secondary headcounts in the table are higher than the capacities the district used in its 2026 planning, and the new campus and the R.E. Mountain addition are both about adding seats. We could not find a single dated list of portables for each Yorkson school, so ask the school directly instead of relying on an old number.
Two projects are on the table:
- R.E. Mountain addition. A $42-million, 300-seat addition was announced April 15, 2026, with construction expected to start in summer 2027 and students using it in late 2028.
- Willoughby Elementary replacement. A February 2026 agreement explores a new school on about 2.4 hectares of Township land beside the tennis centre, with the current site becoming community facilities and open space. It still needs feasibility work and decisions, and no construction schedule is public.
French immersion, francophone and independent options
James Kennedy Elementary, 9060 212 Street in Walnut Grove, offers French immersion alongside its English program, and it is outside Yorkson. Our French immersion page explains how choice-program registration works. École des Voyageurs, at 8736 216 Street, is a public francophone school run by the Conseil scolaire francophone, which is a separate system with its own admission rules and a secondary transport zone for Gabrielle-Roy in Surrey. Confirm your address with them directly.
No independent school sits inside the Yorkson boundary. Nearby choices listed by the Ministry include COMPASS Christian Langley (K-8, 6866 Glover Road), Credo Christian Schools (K-12, elementary and middle campus at 21919 52 Avenue) and Langley Christian School (K-12, with campuses at 22930 48 Avenue, 4716 228 Street and 22702 48 Avenue). Check the campus address before you plan a commute. More in our independent schools list.
Preschool, StrongStart and child care
| Service | Where | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| StrongStart | Donna Gabriel Robins, 7844 204B St | Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 11:30 am, with a parent or caregiver. School phone 778-726-5555 |
| Donna Gabriel Robins YMCA Child Care and Kids Club | Same address | 25 preschool-age and 54 school-age licensed places on Fraser Health’s April 2025 list. On the $10-a-day list |
| Donna Gabriel Robins JB4 preschool | Same address | Licensed preschool on the same list. Ask the school for current sessions |
| Tiny Hoppers | A230-20689 Willoughby Town Centre Dr | Infant, toddler and preschool programs, with a waitlist |
| Yorkson Kids Care | A200-8045 204 St | Under-36-month and preschool-age care. Check for vacancies |
| Country Bumkins | 20766 80 Ave and 20965 77A Ave | Preschool and school-age care at Willoughby and Richard Bulpitt |
The licensing list is from April 2025 and shows approved places, not vacancies. A fee-reduction program and a $10-a-day centre are not the same thing, so check the specific centre on the province’s list. See also our preschool and child care directory.
Getting to school
Homes close to Lynn Fripps, Richard Bulpitt, Donna Gabriel Robins and Yorkson Creek can have short walks, but check the real route at dismissal time, including crossings of 208 Street or 80 Avenue and any construction fencing. The Township has set 30 km/h school-day limits on listed school-zone streets and has funding for traffic calming on 84 Avenue between 204 and 206 Streets. That is not the same as a crossing guard or an unbroken sidewalk everywhere, so look for yourself. Our getting around page covers the roads and bus routes.
Where to read more
Each school has a report on the Ministry’s SD35 school directory. The Fraser Institute also publishes an elementary-school report card (the 2025 edition came out in November 2025). It is a think-tank ranking with its own method and uses older assessment results, so treat it as one more piece of information, not a measure of how many seats a school has.
For the bigger picture, see the Langley-wide schools guide, the Willoughby overview and the Yorkson overview. For after high school, Langley has Trinity Western University and the KPU Langley campus. If you are weighing where to live, our Yorkson pros and cons put the school changes next to everything else.
