A village this size has more green space than you would guess: one proper neighbourhood park, a river on two sides, and two regional parks within a few minutes’ walk or drive. The catch for 2026 is that the west-side trail link is torn up for dike work. Our parks and trails guide covers the wider Langley list; this page is about what Fort Langley residents use week to week.
Trail access, October 30, 2026. Salmon River dike work affects the Fort-to-Fort Trail and the Salmon River Natural Area. The Township's project page says work runs to mid-December, while a closure notice still listed October 30. Treat it as closed until the Township confirms otherwise, follow the signed detour, and check the closures page before you head out.
Which parks are in and around the village?
| Park | Where | What’s there |
|---|---|---|
| Fort Langley Community Park | St. Andrews Avenue at Nash Street (shelter listed at 9089 Nash Street) | Ball and soccer fields, tennis and pickleball, spray park, washrooms, picnic and band shelter, parking. Check booking and seasonal availability. |
| Marina Park | Fraser River at Church Street | Boat launch, trails, open space, washrooms and parking. Check construction and high-water notices before launching. |
| Hudson Bay Park | 88 Avenue at Glover Road | Forest, pond and open space with parking. We found no playground, washroom or off-leash area in the Township listing. |
| Bedford Landing park and trail area | Township directory lists 22801 96 Avenue | Use the Township map to tell the western natural-area access from the channel-side plaza; one pin isn’t the entrance to every amenity. See Bedford Landing. |
| Salmon River Natural Area | 96 Avenue at Billy Brown Road | Trails, wetland and watercourse, viewing decks, a heritage feature and washrooms in the inventory. 2026 construction restrictions override normal access. |
| Fort Langley Spirit Square | 23191 96 Avenue in the Township directory | A heritage feature with parking. The directory location differs from the 2008 opening description beside the hall, so confirm the entrance before you tell a group where to meet. |
| Brae Island Regional Park | Over the Jacob Haldi Bridge, west side of Glover Road | Trails, picnic areas, accessible washrooms and Fort Camping. Dogs on leash. |
| Derby Reach Regional Park | Allard Crescent; also the Heritage Area, Edgewater Bar and Houston Trailhead approaches | Heritage buildings, trails, picnic areas, camping, washrooms and an off-leash area at Edgewater Bar. |
| Fort Langley National Historic Site | 23433 Mavis Avenue | A Parks Canada visit with its own admission and parking terms, not a neighbourhood sports park. |
Which walks are worth knowing?

- Tavistock Point Trail, Brae Island. 4.2 km return, flat, about 1.5 hours per Metro Vancouver’s brochure (dated November 2022).
- Fort-to-Fort Trail. The brochure puts the Derby Reach round trip at about 7 km and two hours, mostly flat, when the route is open. See the Fort-to-Fort Trail page for the exact route. Distances depend on your endpoints, and the 2022 brochure can’t account for this year’s closure.
- Derby Reach. Metro Vancouver’s February 2025 map separates the Fort-to-Fort and Edge Farm cycling and walking route from the Houston Trail network, which is for walkers and riders on horseback. Use the marked parking at Edgewater Bar, the Heritage Area or the Houston Trailhead. We didn’t find a current official distance for the Houston loop, so we won’t guess.
- Langley Bog, inside Derby Reach, is marked No Public Access. Stay on the mapped trails; see our Houston Trail and Langley Bog page.
- River access. Metro Vancouver advises against swimming at Brae Island because of currents and water quality.
Where do people swim, skate and work out?
The village has no pool or rink. Most residents go to Walnut Grove Community Centre (8889 Walnut Grove Drive: pools, fitness centre, gym; see our community centre page) and Langley Sportsplex (100-20165 91A Avenue: four ice rinks). Both are a short drive away, and both publish their own schedules and booking links.
Closer to home, salishan Place by the River runs programs and hosts the library, and Fort Langley Community Hall (9167 Glover Road, built in 1931 and run by the Fort Langley Community Improvement Society) lists classes such as Scottish country dancing and life drawing on its calendar. The Fort Langley Lions Seniors Hall is at 23022 88 Avenue; we couldn’t find a current drop-in timetable, so contact the hall.
Clubs on the water
- Fort Langley Youth Rowing Society: rowing for Grades 8 to 12 with published learn-to-row registration. Its boathouse is on Bedford Channel west of Glover Road, reached from Billy Brown Road.
- Fort Langley Community Rowing Club: adult rowing and learn-to-row programs.
- Golf: the Fort Langley Golf Course sits beside the Fraser and Salmon rivers.
We couldn’t confirm which youth soccer and baseball clubs have field allocations at Community Park, so ask the Township’s parks and recreation staff or the club you’re considering.
What happens in the parks each year?
The May Day parade runs along Glover, 88 Avenue and Trattle, with a festival in Community Park (the 104th, on May 18, 2026). The Jazz & Arts Festival runs in late July (July 22-25, 2027 is announced), and the Cranberry Festival fills the village on the Saturday of the Thanksgiving weekend each October (check the organiser’s page for the date). The Saturday farmers’ market, at 9025 Glover Road, ran April 18 to December 5 this year. These bring crowds and road closures; the getting around page shows what to expect.
What’s planned?
- Fort Langley Community Park improvements appear in the Township’s 2026 capital budget. We couldn’t find a final scope, construction date or opening date, so don’t plan around a new facility yet.
- Haldi House, on the waterfront, was moved onto a new foundation above flood-control level in February 2026 as part of a project with a $4 million budget. No public opening date has been published.
- Waterfront lands east of Glover Road went through a public concept process in 2024. There’s no confirmed construction schedule, and not every concept on the drawings is funded or approved.
- 88 Avenue pathway (Wright Street to Glover Road, about 580 m) is moving to design; see getting around.
