Murrayville Parks, Trails and the Wave Pool: What's Where

Murrayville has more than ten parks and parkettes, a wave pool at W.C. Blair and a full athletics track at McLeod. The Old Yale dog park is mid-rebuild, and one old trail map shouldn't be trusted.

Murrayville’s open space is a string of neighbourhood parks and sports grounds rather than one big green showpiece, plus the best-equipped pool in this part of the Township. Two things are in flux: the Old Yale dog park is being rebuilt, and an old trail map still floating around shouldn’t be trusted.

The parks

The list below uses features the Township itself lists. If a feature isn’t mentioned, check before assuming it’s missing. Washrooms and closures change, so look at the Township’s facilities finder before you go.

Park Where What the Township lists
James Hill Park Old Yale Road near 222 Street, beside James Hill Elementary Playing fields, playground, trails, washrooms
Denny Ross Memorial Park Old Yale Road near 219 Street. The Township’s directory gives 4700 Old Yale Road, but other Township material differs, so use the map pin. Ball and soccer facilities, tennis and pickleball, playground, trails, washrooms
Arthur Rose Park 52 Avenue at 223 Street Pond, trails, playground, drinking water
Murrayville Outdoor Activity Park 48A Avenue at 221 Street, next to W.C. Blair Sport box, basketball, skate area, spray park, playground, picnic space
McLeod Athletic Park 56 Avenue at 216 Street Track, turf and playing fields, ball diamonds, tennis and pickleball, sport box, playground, washrooms
Derek Doubleday Arboretum 21177 Fraser Highway Gardens, trails, fitness features, playground, wooded areas
Old Yale Park Old Yale Road at 224 Street Off-leash area, community garden, trails, wooded areas, parking, washrooms
Porter Park 49A Avenue at 215 Street Playground, open grass, trails, drinking water
Macklin Corner Parkette (also listed as Five Corners) 21560 48 Avenue The Township lists both names at this address, so check the sign before you count them as two stops
Jubilee Parkette 50 Avenue at 223 Street Listed as a park; amenities not detailed
Murray’s Corner Parkette 21655 Murray’s Crescent (from a 2024 library event listing) Check the sign for current amenities

Our playgrounds, sports fields and off-leash dog parks guides cover the whole Township if you want to compare.

Walks and trails

Derek Doubleday Arboretum is the best-documented easy walk: the Township’s 2022 nature-tour material describes about a 1 km loop. At a normal 4 to 5 km/h that’s roughly 12 to 15 minutes of walking, excluding stops (our arithmetic). That document is a few years old, and we haven’t checked the surface or gradients, so look at accessibility details on the park map. The park map gives 9 a.m. to dusk; follow the signs.

Don’t rely on the old Murrayville Trail map. The Township’s PDF is from 2007. It’s interesting orientation, not proof of a continuous public route, its current length or legal access across private parcels. Start from a listed park and stay on signed public paths. Natural areas and creek corridors don’t automatically have public access. More walking ideas are in our Langley hikes and walks guide.

W.C. Blair and the pool

W.C. Blair Recreation Centre, 22200 Fraser Highway (604-533-6170), is Murrayville’s recreation hub. It has a wave pool, six 25-metre lanes, fitness facilities, a hot tub and a sauna, with accessible beach-style entry and a pool lift. Building hours aren’t the same as public-swim times, so use the Township’s current schedule. Fees and hours are on our W.C. Blair page.

For swimming clubs, Langley Olympians run programmes tied to Blair. For ice and curling you’ll leave Murrayville: George Preston Recreation Centre, 20699 42 Avenue in Brookswood, has an arena and curling sheets (604-530-1323).

Sport and clubs

Langley Mustangs use McLeod for track and field. Whether a child gets a place depends on the club’s age groups and registration, not on living nearby. Our minor sports directory lists the other clubs.

Events in the neighbourhood

  • RibFest Langley was at McLeod Athletic Park on August 14 to 16, 2026. We don’t have 2027 dates yet.
  • The Air Fair at Langley Regional Airport (5385 216 Street) was on August 29, 2026: aircraft on display and ground activities, not a flying show. Watch the Township’s page for the next one.
  • Murrayville Community Memorial Hall (21667 48 Avenue, built 1928) is the neighbourhood’s meeting place. It rents space and posts events on its site.

Our annual events calendar will carry 2027 dates once they’re out.

What’s changing

Old Yale dog park. The Township documents drainage and wetland problems at the off-leash area and is rebuilding it. Council directed separate areas by dog size on April 27, 2026, and the capital project list showed work underway in October 2026. We couldn’t find a finished-opening date, so check the project page before you drive over. The wet ground is a park-management issue and isn’t evidence that nearby homes flood.

Murrayville Cemetery

Murrayville Cemetery (21405 44 Avenue) opened in 1891 and the Township took it over in 1904. It’s active, so visit respectfully and follow the posted rules; it isn’t a picnic or off-leash park. See our Murrayville Cemetery page.
