Nobody sorts Willowbrook children into one school. The City-Township line runs through the district, school boundaries ignore it, and two neighbouring blocks can lead to different middle and secondary schools. So the rule is simple: pick the address first, then ask the district which school it belongs to. The School Locator takes a minute, and the district office (604-534-7891) will help if you’re on a boundary.

Which public schools serve the Willowbrook area?

Two “school families” meet here. On the Township side, the usual route is an elementary school, then Peter Ewart Middle, then R.E. Mountain Secondary. On the City side, it runs through H.D. Stafford Middle to Langley Secondary.

School Grades and address Who it serves Capacity and notes
Langley Meadows Community School K to 5 · 2244 Willoughby Way (Township) Langley Meadows and the western mall side, per its catchment map About 400 pupils in December 2025. The district’s 2024 plan listed three portables; ask for the current count
R.C. Garnett Demonstration Elementary K to 5 · 7096 201 Street (Township) Generally east of 200 Street, below 68 Avenue, west of the Willowbrook Connector, plus a northern extension “Demonstration” is part of the name, not a separate admission program. The catchment map linked by the district is from 2017, so confirm in the locator
Nicomekl Elementary K to 5 · 20050 53 Avenue (City) Most of the 53 to 56 Avenue pocket between Brydon and 200 Street 200 seats opened September 2025
Douglas Park Community Elementary K to 5 · 5409 206 Street (City) Much of the City area south of the Bypass and north of 56 Avenue Ask the school for current enrolment
Simonds Elementary K to 5 · 20190 48 Avenue (City) The western edge south of 56 Avenue near 196 to 198 Street Don’t assume a Brydon-area address means Nicomekl
Peter Ewart Middle Middle school (SD35 describes it as Grades 6 to 8) · 7755 202A Street (Township) Langley Meadows and R.C. Garnett families 275 seats opened September 2025. The provincial directory lists a different grade range, so confirm with the school
R.E. Mountain Secondary 9 to 12 · 7633 202A Street (Township) The Township-side school family above IB in Grades 11 to 12. A 300-seat addition was announced in April 2026, with construction expected from summer 2027 and completion in late 2028
H.D. Stafford Middle 6 to 8 · 20441 Grade Crescent (City) Douglas Park, Nicomekl and Simonds families About 775 pupils in January 2026; the school lists technology, home arts and fine arts options
Langley Secondary 9 to 12 · 21405 56 Avenue (Township) The H.D. Stafford school family, so the City pockets Its visual arts page lists AP Art 12

Several of those catchment maps are older than two years (the district still links a 2017 R.C. Garnett map and 2024 City maps). The locator is the one to trust.

September 2027: SD35 approved Willoughby Slope boundary changes on 28 April 2026, and posted more detail for Emery Dosdall Secondary in October 2026. Langley Meadows and R.C. Garnett stay with Peter Ewart and R.E. Mountain in the district's published information, but don't assume every home marketed as "Willoughby" or "Willowbrook" does. If you're buying near a boundary, get the 2027 assignment for your exact address.

Are the schools full?

SD35’s October 2026 update says nearly all Willoughby Slope schools are at capacity. The new seats at Nicomekl and Peter Ewart helped, and R.E. Mountain’s addition is still more than two years off. We couldn’t confirm current portable counts or operating capacity at most of these schools, so the honest advice is to ask the school office or look at the district’s long range facilities plan.

For the Langley-wide basics (registration, catchment rules, transfers), see our Langley schools guide and the district directory page.

What programs are on offer?

  • IB: R.E. Mountain runs the International Baccalaureate in Grades 11 and 12, with separate Pre-IB and IB application pages. Live in the catchment and you still apply.
  • Fine arts and technology: H.D. Stafford describes technology, home arts and fine arts options, and Langley Secondary lists AP Art 12 in visual arts.
  • French immersion and other choice programs: These are district programs with their own registration. See our French immersion guide and ask SD35 which placements apply to your address.
  • School data: each school’s Ministry page has report data (pick the year before comparing). SD35 publishes Action Plans for Learning for school context. The Fraser Institute’s 2025 elementary report card is a think-tank ranking with its own method, and it isn’t a catchment map. We don’t rank schools.

Walking to school

Langley Meadows Community School sits inside its own neighbourhood, with park and trail links nearby, which is why Langley Meadows works for walking families. East of 200 Street, R.C. Garnett is north of 68 Avenue, so the walk from the 64 to 68 Avenue pocket crosses that avenue. The Township recorded funding for a 68 Avenue and 201 Street pedestrian crossing project in 2022, but we couldn’t confirm its present condition. Walk the route yourself, at school-run time, and check crossings, lighting and any detours.

Langley Meadows Community School runs a StrongStart at 2244 Willoughby Way (birth to five, with a caregiver; morning and afternoon sessions on the school’s calendar). Fraser Health’s July 2026 licensed-facility list includes these nearby sites. A licence capacity isn’t the number of open spaces.

Questions people ask about Willowbrook

What elementary school serves Willowbrook?
There isn’t one “Willowbrook” school. Langley Meadows Community School (2244 Willoughby Way) serves Langley Meadows and the western mall side, R.C. Garnett (7096 201 Street) serves the area east of 200 Street below 68 Avenue, and on the City side the 53 to 56 Avenue pocket splits between Nicomekl, Douglas Park and Simonds. Use the School Locator for your address.
What high school do Willowbrook kids go to?
On the Township side, the route is Peter Ewart Middle then R.E. Mountain Secondary, and SD35’s September 2027 information keeps Langley Meadows and R.C. Garnett in that family. On the City side, Douglas Park, Nicomekl and Simonds feed H.D. Stafford Middle and then Langley Secondary.
What is changing in September 2027?
SD35 approved Willoughby Slope boundary changes on 28 April 2026, effective September 2027, tied to new capacity in the Smith-area campus (Emery Dosdall Secondary and a new middle school). The district’s October 2026 update still lists Langley Meadows and R.C. Garnett with Peter Ewart and R.E. Mountain, but ask for your address’s 2027 assignment in writing.
Are Willowbrook-area schools full?
SD35’s October 2026 update says nearly all Willoughby Slope schools are at capacity. New seats opened at Nicomekl (200) and Peter Ewart (275) in September 2025, and a 300-seat addition at R.E. Mountain was announced in April 2026, with construction expected from summer 2027 and completion in late 2028. We couldn’t confirm current portable counts, so ask each school.
Can residents get into the IB program?
R.E. Mountain offers IB in Grades 11 and 12 and has separate Pre-IB and IB application and eligibility information. Living in the catchment and being admitted to IB are different questions, so read the school’s program page.
Is there French immersion near Willowbrook?
French immersion is a district program with its own registration, not a catchment school. We couldn’t confirm which placements are open for these addresses, so see our French immersion guide and ask SD35 about your child’s grade.
Where is StrongStart near Willowbrook?
Langley Meadows Community School runs a StrongStart at 2244 Willoughby Way for children from birth to age five with a caregiver, with morning and afternoon sessions. The school posts the calendar, so check it before you go.
Is there a $10-a-day child care site near Willowbrook?
We couldn’t confirm one in the Willowbrook core. Check the Province’s $10 a Day ChildCareBC centres list for the exact facility, and don’t treat a reduced fee under a different program as proof a site is $10 a day.
